Frequently Asked Questions
1. What are you looking for in reference imagery?
Avoid extreme or dramatic lighting. The simpler and more even the lighting, the easier it is for me to see your pet's texture, unique features, eyes, and expression. Try your best to capture crisp imagery!
Straight forward, profile, and 3/4 angles tend to translate best to the portrait style. Avoid shots taken from above or at odd angles where the uniqueness of your pet is distorted.
The weirder the better! The best photos are the ones that reveal your pet's personality and shows what you love most about them: "His ears are my favorite", "She's loaded with energy," "He's extra cuddly", "She wears a bandana we got from my mom, and we never take it off!" - These are all helpful notes to provide along side your pictures and videos. If you can capture their essence in the photo(s) you send me, there's a much better chance I'll be able to translate it to their portrait. Don't hesitate to upload videos, too!
Don't rush to get the perfect photo(s)! I'll be here, so take your time to get the perfect shot. Pets are not always the most cooperative models, but don't rush it. Whenever you get a photo you love, place your order and I'll get to work!
2. Do you work traditionally? What about in color?
The illustrations you see on this page have been created digitally and in grayscale to look like traditional pencil drawings. This helps avoid shipping and material costs! For traditional artwork and artwork created in color, please inquire. We would love to hear your vision!
3. How much does a commission cost?
For pet portraits, most commissions take shape in a square format, and start at $300.00 USD. As the size increases, the price increases to accommodate. For all other commissions, a price will be provided upon inquiry.
4. How long does a commission take?
It depends on your request! When you inquire, we’ll send a timeline alongside pricing.
